Comedy fundraising event a success

THE team at Camp Quality is still laughing after the massive success of its fundraising event ‘Comics on the Run’.

A whopping $18,000 was raised for the charity last weekend which will now go toward helping local children, struggling with cancer, and their families.

“It was a fantastic evening and we absolutely raised more money than was expected,” fundraising co-ordinator for the Northern Region, Lyndel Bosman said.

“The event is growing – we had twice the amount of people we did last year.”

Comedians Barry McLeod, Fred Lang and Tommy Dean kept audiences entertained all night, while the auction proved one of the many highlights.

“There really was something for everyone,” Ms Bosman said.

“Each of the comedians had their own style of comedy and Jenny Bonfield was the consummate auctioneer. Brian Hopwood very generously bought the signed Gold Coast Titans jersey and has since donated it back to Camp Quality for one of our families, which is a lovely gesture.”

According to Ms Bosman, the night would not have been such a success without the overwhelming support of local businesses and the community.

“We wouldn’t have been able to put on such a great event without the support of our sponsors,” she said.
