AS the originators of the concept, it’s poetic justice to find Park Beach Bowling Club Colts holding down one berth in tonight’s Coffs Coast Twenty/20 Cup grand final.
While the idea had been circulating for a couple of seasons, Colts drove the proposal hard and Coffs Harbour District Cricket has been rewarded with what is shaping as a massive promotion for the years ahead.
Club president Neil Coogan will skipper Colts in tonight’s final showdown.
“The whole club is looking forward to taking on Sawtell,” he said.
“Both teams are undefeated in this form of the game so the final should be a great spectacle.”
Sawtell were first into the main event but Colts needed to overcome a series of rain delays before downing Nana Glen in a tense preliminary last week.
“We have played some good cricket and held our nerve at crucial times in the lead up matches,” Coogan added.
“The side is fortunate to be so well balanced, which is crucial in this short version of the game.
“Sawtell are a very good side and as we have seen over the years they know how to win finals, so our boys are looking forward to the challenge.
“The whole competition has been very close and I don’t expect the final to be any different.”
The public is welcome to attend Coffs Coast Sports and Leisure Park for the spectacle with plenty of food and beverages available.
Music starts pumping from 5pm and continues between overs to help create a great atmosphere.
If you like cricket it’s a must-see night.
