Annual colon screening vital

IT MIGHT not be an attractive topic, but annual colon screening reduces the mortality rate of related cancers by 33%, making it an important subject to raise.

With Annual Bowelscan Week from March 5 to 12 the process is made easier with scanning kits available to use in the privacy of your home.

Bowel Cancer kills 12 to 15 Australians every day but is curable through early detection. If you are 35 or older, it is recommended you start annual screening.

The awareness week is run by Rotary as a community service to assist in the early detection of colon cancer and the program is in its 27th year in Coffs Harbour.

The kits cost just $8 and are available from the following local pharmacies:

The Palms Pharmacy at the Palms Centre, Guardian Moonee Beach Pharmacy at Moonee, Northside Wholelife Pharmacy at Northside, Good Price Pharmacy at the Bailey Centre, Jetty Village Pharmacy at Coffs Harbour Jetty, Terry White Pharmacy at Park Beach Plaza, Focus Pharmacy at Sawtell, Amcal Pharmacy at Boambee and Blooms Chemist at Toormina.
