Coldest morning in 103 years for Queensland capital

BRISBANE has recorded its coldest morning since 1911 but the 2.6 degree minimum was nothing compared to some of the other regional temperatures.

Clermont in central Queensland had record-low temperatures yesterday, but broke records again this morning with the temperature dropping down to -4.5C, the ABC reported.

Blackall recorded lows of -2.0C, Roma dropped to -6.6C, and Oakey was down to -6.1C.

Kingaroy reached -5.7C, Dalby dropped to -5.0C, Applethorpe was -5.4C, and Warwick recorded -5.9C.

More news across the sites:

Further north, Gladstone recorded 10.4 at 5.45am, though Gladstone Airport was a much cooler 4.5 at 6.34am. Mackay Airport was 4.5 at 3.17am.

The bureau said dry and clear conditions have caused temperatures to plummet, but said mornings should start to warm up next week.
