Coffs Water Polo makes a splash in Manning Mug

WATER polo is not all hard, physical play, as Coffs Harbour competitors in the annual Manning Mug at Wingham discovered on the weekend.

Nine Coffs Harbour players joined teams in the Manning Mug and enjoying some friendly, but challenging games.

Joining forces with a side from Broadmeadow, Coffs locals Jemma Burtonwood, Melanie Stead, Chloe Harrington, Kehani Hancock, Rebekah Abood, Claire Gorman, Cheryl Lane and Claire Simmonds gave it their all in a number of thrilling encounters.

While unable to claim victory, the Coffs based players learnt plenty of clever strategies from their more experienced teammates.

The Coffs Harbour Water Polo Club is currently opening its door to new players and invites people of all ages to give it a go.

On December 9 and 16 the club will be launching its new under 12 program Flippa Ball.

Played in shallow water the game is an easy way for kids to build skills and confidence.

Flippa Ball games will get underway from 5pm at Coffs Harbour War Memorial Pool.
