Coffs teams court success
RAIN didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the hundreds of kids who participated in the McDonald’ Odd-age Basketball Carnival in Coffs Harbour over the weekend.
Some road closures threatened proceedings but still 43 teams took to the courts for more than 100 games of basketball.
After recent successes at the Grafton and Port Macquarie carnivals there was more success for Coffs teams.
Locals were represented in seven of the eight finals and in two of the divisions provided both competing outfits.
Meanwhile, the Coffs Harbour Basketball Association has issued registered members a reminder that the 2010 annual general meeting is being held tomorrow from 6pm at Sportz Central.
As this is an election year, the board is pleased that eight of the nine committee of management positions have been nominated and filled prior to the meeting.
CHBA spokesperson Judy Smith said a generational change is underway in the rep coaching ranks with committed younger people stepping into management roles.
The meeting will receive the management reports for the year and will vote on a constitutional change put forward by one of the members.
