Coffs sewerage project in pipeline

THE $2.8million contract to build a sewer to accommodate new housing releases in South Coffs has been awarded to subsurface construction company Trenchless Technology.

A trunk sewer pump station and trunk rising main will be installed to provide reticulated sewerage to land earmarked for residential development south of Stadium and Hogbin drives.

Funded by an interest-free loan from the State Government, the sewerage project, overseen by Coffs council, will assist local developers.

Several landholders near the site are proposing residential sub-divisions to establish housing estates close to the stadium and the Coffs Harbour Health and Education campuses.

NSW Planning Minister Tony Kelly said the south Coffs urban release area was a key site to accommodate projected population growth in the city.

The successful construction company Trenchless Technology will start the project in the lead-up to a national utilities conference being held in Coffs Harbour in October.

Trenchless Live 2010 will exhibit the latest technology on offer for the Australasian no-dig construction industry.
