Coffs Rugby's Cinderella finish

THE way Coffs Rugby claimed the Upper MNC Rugby title on Saturday will be talked about in local sporting circles for years to come.

Trailing reigning premier Hastings Valley 17-10 in a hectic grand final, Coffs Rugby was at long odds with pundits to claim this year's premiership.

The host team hit the afterburners in the last 20 minutes though to score four unanswered tries to win 34-17.

In many ways the match reflected Coffs Rugby's season.

After three matches this year, the local team was winless and looking anything but a title-winning outfit.

With hard work though their fortunes were turned around to eventually finish on top of the table.

Coffs Rugby timed its run to perfection on Saturday as well to once again finish on top.

The celebrations, which will undoubtedly continue today, are even sweeter thanks to Coffs Rugby's reserve grade team also winning its grand final.
