Police arrest man over drugs

A MAN walked into trouble when police were patrolling Nambucca Heads on Monday.

Officers stopped the 53-year-old in Bellinger Street and searched him.

They initially found a small amount of cannabis in his pocket and discovered a further 367 grams of cannabis in his backpack and arrested him.

Their investigations led them to a nearby house where they found another 420 grams of cannabis.

The man was taken to Macksville Police Station where detectives interviewed him and subsequently charged him with two counts of possessing a prohibited drug and one count each of supplying a prohibited drug and possessing cash deemed to be the proceeds of crime.

He was conditionally bailed to appear in Macksville Local Court on February 25.

IN other news, a Polish tourist is now $690 worse off after he was caught speeding on the Pacific Highway south of Macksville.

Police patrolling Allgomera detected the 29-year-old travelling south at 145km/h in a 100km/h zone in his black Mercedes sedan on Monday.

He was issued with a traffic infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit.
