Coffs paddlers get gold at state titles

IT WAS gold all round for seven Coffs Coast Dragon Boat Club members who came out on top at the State Dragon Boat Titles.

The triumph was the culmination of a gruelling four-month campaign for the determined crew.

The team of Joelle Bridger, Cheryl Patrick, Fran Hill, Joseph Crane, Trevor Baillie, Erin and Steph Frost brought home gold in the mixed, open and women's categories along with a bronze earlier in the day.

Victory has also let the crew qualify for the Australian National Dragon Boat Titles at Sydney International race circuit in Penrith. With only the slightest of margins between first and second in all the Coffs wins there were plenty of nervous moments for fans.

The women's crew had an

anxious wait to hear whether they had won gold with a photo finish was required to determine the winners. It was a super result from the Coffs Coast paddlers who will have their hearts set on continuing the success at a

national level in Penrith.
