Coffs Lions out of FFA Cup chase after 0-4 loss to Edgeworth

THE DREAM run is over for Coffs United in the quest for admission to the Westfield FFA Cup.

It rained goals in all four qualifying matches played on Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility's synthetic turf but despite going down, the Lions put up the strongest resistance of any of the eliminated sides.

Opponent Edgeworth FC established their dominance early by taking a 2-0 lead into half-time thanks to a double from Aaron Pritchard.

Edgeworth went on with the job after intermission with goals to Liam Spurway and Josh Carroll closing out a convincing 4-0 win.

In the other games, West Wallsend defeated Jesmond 5-4 on penalties after the match was locked up 3-3 at the end of regular time.

Adamstown Rosebuds defeated Valentine 4-0 and Broadmeadow Magic totally outclassed South Armidale United with a 7-1 final score.

The Lions will be quickly back in business on local turf and face Orara Valley Dingoes in the delayed match this Wednesday at 7.55pm.
