Coffs kids earn top marks

BRIGHT minds are plentiful at Coffs Harbour Public School.

Results of statewide literacy and numeracy testing, as part of the NSW Government's Early Action for Success strategy, put the school's Year 1 students in the top percentile.

At a state meeting, teachers were proud to be acknowledged for the ongoing achievements and results of students who started kindergarten last year and are now in Year 1.

The top test results were in comparison with other EAS schools, of which there are more than 300.

The EAS strategy aims to improve students' literacy and numeracy skills through a targeted approach in the early years of schooling.

At Coffs Harbour Public School the program continues to grow in strength as teachers are continually refining and developing their teaching practices.
