Coffs junior star Jacob Ford in Queensland Squash Open final

JACOB Ford was best performed Coffs Coast entrant at the Queensland Open Squash titles.

He defied the hot, stifling conditions to outplay more senior opponents and recorded strong wins in division two of the graded program to earn a place in the final.

The opponent was Ethan Eyles of Palm Beach and Jacob had a fair understanding of the Queenslander after the pair met last month in the Australian Junior Age Championships held in Perth.

Opening strongly, Jacob opened strongly to take the first game but Ethan fought back to level in the second.

The third and fourth games were close but Jacob's rival began to draw clear and took out the match.

Brad Harrison also competed but was struck down by injury in his first match and could not produce his best.

Both Coffs players are booked for the Sandgate Championship next weekend.
