Coffs tops the food chain
BOUNTIFUL BONVILLE: Sous chef Daryen Ryan, marketing manager Damien Tarbox, and food and beverage manager Todd Weeks.
IF we didn’t know it already, there’s solid proof that Coffs Coast is home to some of the finest culinary talent on the entire North Coast.
This year’s Northern Restaurant and Catering Awards for Excellence – comprising 80 restaurants in total from Tamworth to Tweed – saw two local establishments in particular stand out among the eight local winners.
Stefano Mazzina’s Fiasco Ristorante and Bar at the Jetty was named the ‘Restaurant of the Year,’ and best ‘Italian Restaurant’.
“We are very happy to win the awards,” Mr Mazzina said. “But obviously you don’t run a restaurant to just win awards, you just work your hardest every day,” he said.
Bonville Golf Resort won the second major title as ‘Caterer of the Year’.
It is the fifth time in eight years the resort has taken this prestigious prize.
It also won ‘Event Caterer’ which its sixth gong in the same period.
Damien Tarbox, marketing manager of Bonville Golf Resort, believes one of the keys to its success is the long tenure of the staff.
“We also do a lot of research to find out what our customers want,” Mr Tarbox said.
