Salvo's go bananas for helping hand given to food drive
COFFS Harbour's signature attraction The Big Banana will do its bit to help the Salvation Army care for the city's less fortunate this winter.
In a fundraising drive to help those less fortunate, the Big Banana will stage a food drive where visitors to the attraction's Area 351 Laser Tag will receive a $1 discount on their games if they donate a can of non-perishable food.
From June 14 to 27, The Big Banana and The Salvation Army hopes the Coffs Harbour community will rally in attempt to do its part for those less fortunate.
The magnitude of the impact The Salvation Army has on our population largely goes unnoticed and understated.
This is especially important to The Big Banana team considering the Australian icon is in one of the lowest socio economic regions in the state and they understand firsthand the impact of high unemployment rates, limited job opportunities, low median wages and poor infrastructure.
"We hope to draw a huge crowd to our new state of the art laser tag arena and show the community spirit Coffs Harbour has to offer," Diane from the Salvation Army Coffs Harbour said.
"We are in desperate need of supplies all year round".
The food drive will be starting off with a bang at the official launch event on Saturday 14th June with a "ZAP OUT HUNGER" day.
All members of the public are invited to come along and grab a great deal on laser tag while supporting a very worthwhile cause.
