Coffs Harbour may be luckiest city in Australia

A FEW years ago chook raffles and meat trays got punters excited, but now it's the desire to win fuel that entices Coffs Coast residents to enter competitions.

Morrisons Electrical Megastore recently were part of a nationwide competition where customers were encouraged to fill out coupons in individual store catalogues for the chance to win $1000 worth of Shell petrol.

“$1000 worth of fuel is a help to nearly any household,” Garth Morrison of Morrisons Electrical Megastore said.

“We had a terrific response but the most surprising thing about the competition was how many winners came from this area. It was an Australia-wide competition involving lots of large electrical stores, including retailers like JB Hi Fi and Bing Lee.

“There were 150 petrol vouchers of $1000 each up for grabs, and out of that total, 13 winners came from Coffs Harbour ... It just goes to show it's definitely worth filling out those coupons. This is not just a great place to live, it's also a lucky place.”
