Coffs' own Miss Universe

IT’S a long walk in high heels but Leslie-Ann Smith is another step closer to realising her dream.

It began on the catwalk at the recent regional preliminary event for Miss Universe Australia 2010 held at Park Beach Plaza and after the result at the NSW finals held last Saturday, Leslie-Ann secured herself and her high heels a place in the Australian final to be held in Sydney on June 17.

Peter Sereno, international stylist and mentor to Jennifer Hawkins, critiqued all nine finalists.

“Leslie-Anne Smith is Coffs Harbour’s secret weapon,” Peter said.

“Originally from South Africa, Leslie-Ann is another one that could pull a surprise come finals night. A fantastic body which looked amazing in swimwear and evening gown, her sincere answer to the final question warmed the hearts of many in the crowd,” he said

“She was asked what she thinks the world’s perception of Australia was and relating to her experience as a migrant, she said that Australia has a great image and is regarded well by many in the world, which is why she is here and is proud to be part of our nation”.

Coffs Harbour’s own Charmaine Perry, Sarah Thorpe and Suzan Wilkinson along with Rebecca Mitrevski all did themselves and Coffs Harbour proud.

Their poise and confidence was evident as they answered their individual questions with insight.

All these girls should consider entering next year as even Rachel Finch, the reigning Miss Universe Australia, did not get the crown placed on her head the first year she strutted her heels down the catwalk.
