Jessica's on her way to the royal!
COFFS Harbour’s Jessica Wilson could be about to make history.
Our 2010 Coffs Harbour Showgirl will represent the city at the Sydney Royal Easter Show after being chosen as one of two Zone winners.
The 23-year-old university student will join Lismore apprentice hairdresser Alyson Elliott in Sydney for the judging of the final of The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl Competition next month.
The Zone 1 final, when 14 showgirls from agricultural shows across the North Coast faced a panel of three judges, was held at South Lismore Bowling Club on Saturday.
“I am so happy for her and it is great representation for Coffs Harbour,” said Coffs Harbour Showgirl Competition co-ordinator Karen Luke.
Jessica is in her final year of study for her Bachelor of Education in primary school teaching at the Coffs Harbour campus of Southern Cross University.
She has been involved in the Australian Indigenous Mentoring Program for several years, helping Aboriginal high school students at the PCYC homework centre.
A competitive show rider, Jessica is also a competitor in the pavilion classes, winning first prizes for her cheesecake and her lemon meringue pie at last year’s Coffs Harbour Show.
The 2011 Coffs Harbour Show will be held on May 13, 14 and 15 and entries are now open for the 2011 Coffs Harbour Showgirl Competition.
