Damp day ahead for Sheehan

Paul Sheehan is teeing off in the opening round of the Australian Open today ... hopefully.

COFFS Harbour golfer Paul Sheehan will be battling the elements with the rest of the field when he tees off this morning in the opening round of the Australian Open.

Wet weather in Sydney caused yesterday’s pro-am to be declared a washout and tournament officials couldn’t guarantee that play at The Lakes would start on time today.

If conditions improve enough for play to start on time, Sheehan will be starting from the 10th tee at 8.15am.

The 33-year-old has been drawn to play alongside fellow Aussie Steven Bowditch and Chinese journeyman Su Dong.

Yesterday that was looking unlikely.

The first, 10th and 11th fairways were flooded while the fifth and sixth greens were unplayable.
