Big numbers for Coffs fun run
THE number of early entries into the Australia Day Fun Run has organisers expecting runners of all ages and levels of ability to compete.
The Coffs Harbour Surf Life Saving Club will again be holding runs over 2km, 5km and 10km on January 26, and early indications are that there will be more than the 250 runners that participated in the event last year.
The three runs will all be held in the vicinity of the surf club with the 10km event comprising two circuits of the 5km route.
Once again, the course will consist of sand, road and grass.
For those looking to take the events seriously there will be more than $2000 worth of memberships to the new Genesis Fitness Club as well as cash prizes for the winners and placegetters of each distance. Also, MBF will be giving away vouchers to participants on the day.
Entry will be $5 for the shortest race and $10 for the two longer distance events with the proceeds going to help the surf club with its beach-patrolling duties.
Registrations on Australia Day begin at 7am in front of the Coffs Harbour Surf Club and the race briefing will be at 8.15am.
To try and beat the heat this year the 5km and 10km races will start first followed by the 2km event.
