Driver returns after collision

AN ALCOHOL impaired driver who crashed his car into a box trailer in Beryl Street on Saturday morning fled the scene on foot.

Police say the 30-year-old crashed his silver Holden Commodore about 1.30am before doing the bolt.

The box trailer had been left parked in the front yard of a home.

Residents in the street were woken by the sound of a loud crash and reported seeing a man running down the road

Some hours later he returned to the scene and admitted to the owner of the trailer that he had caused the damage.

He then fronted at the Coffs Harbour Police Station and was charged with driving under the influence and negligent driving.
