Coffs Harbour couple found guilty of murder

A COFFS Harbour couple accused of brutally bashing local man Dennis Burns have been found guilty of murder.

Brendan James Price, 44, and Michelle Kathleen Moore, 63, were on trial accused of murdering Dennis Burns, 50, outside his Coffs Harbour home in October 2012.

A jury decided the pair's guilt on Wednesday after a two-and-a-half week trial before a Supreme Court sitting in Coffs Harbour.

The court heard how Price and Moore confronted Mr Burns over a trivial dispute, bashing him with a wooden pole, a small hammer and other items.

The vicious attack unfolded outside Mr Burns' home on the corner of Collingwood and Edgar Sts on October 28, 2012, between 4.30pm and 4.50pm.

Mr Burns was airlifted to Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition, suffering severe head trauma and chest injuries.

He died of his injuries two days later.

The third person charged over the murder, Michelle Moore's son James Moore, 27, was found guilty before the Supreme Court on December 2 last year.

Justice Peter Garling adjourned sentencing for Brendan Price and Michelle Moore for July 24. Bail has been refused.
