Big price tag not so Tender on buyer's pocket

ANOTHER big price has been paid for a piece of Coffs Harbour's commercial real estate.

The building that was home to the Tender Centre for 15 years at 9 Ray McCarthy Drive has been sold under the hammer by LJ Hooker Commercial for $1.74 million.

Auctioneer Geoff Hunter opened the bidding at $1.1 million before advancing to $1.7million at which time it was declared on the market. From there bidding increased in smaller increments before being knocked down at $1.74million.

Proprietors of the Tender Centre and vendors David and Marianne Jackson said it was sad to sell the building and say good bye to their loyal clientele.

The successful purchasers are the adjoining owners who proposed to expand into the building.

Selling agent Troy Mitchell said the marketing campaign attracted good local interest with five contracts being issued.

The sale price equated to $1,000/m2 of building area which Mr Mitchell said was a favourable result.
