Coffs Coast youths to live it up

LIVE it Up – Live it Now! will be the theme of Coffs Harbour’s Youth Week festival, to be held from 10am to 4pm at Pioneer Park and the Cavanbah Centre on April 10, the first day of National Youth Week 2010.

TV presenter, comedian and author Gretel Killeen will be a celebrity guest at the festival and will also be one of the hosts for the dance party at the Cavanbah Centre from 5pm to 10pm on April 10.

Live it Up – Live it Now! will include entertainment, workshops, fashion parades and food stalls.

USA Breakdancers Wil ‘Il Will’ Sanchez from the Bronx; Chris Merriman and Stephen Gow will perform in Pioneer Park and run workshops in the Cavanbah Centre.

Youngblood heat winners Egg Eat Fish; Kerry Neill’s Korrimurri Dance Group and the Djembe Drumming Circle will perform and there will be roaming circus performers from the Australian Institute of Circus Arts. Workshops in mosaic art; ‘mook mook’ jewellery making; wearable art and a story slam will also feature.

StarFM DJs Jesse and Miz will be doing live crossovers with competitions and giveaways from 10am to 2pm and they will be back again to co-host the evening dance party.

The evening’s dance extravaganza will see Youngblood winners The Proposition take to the stage as well as Youngblood runners-up SAYD.

Other performers on the night will include band Benevolence; Rappers ‘Beats Working,’ DJ DPM and a performance by USA Breakdancers as well as a dance-off competition.

Live it Up – Live it Now is a joint project of Coffs Harbour City Council and the Harbour Youth Service.
