Ambassadors ready to celebrate

AUSTRALIA Day is fast approaching and now the 2010 Australia Day Ambassadors for the region have been announced.

For Coffs Harbour, former deputy mayor Jan Strom will be taking up the reigns, while well-known sports commentator Norman May will be flying the flag in the Nambucca Shire.

“I am delighted to be Coffs Harbour Australia Day Ambassador for 2010 and I’d like to thank the committee for inviting me to officiate – it is a great honour,” Ms Strom said.

Currently a member of Regional Development Australia – Mid North Coast Board, the CHESS Community Garden Advisory Group and a member of the Bootlace Productions theatre-company, Ms Strom has her head and heart firmly planted in the community.

Mr May, who is also an ambassador for Seniors Week, knows how important celebrating being Australian is.

Having commentated 12 Olympic Games from 1962 to 2006, Mr May is committed to keeping the Australian spirit alive and well in the region this Australia Day.
