Retirees celebrate Australia Day

LAMINGTONS, pavlova and sangers were just a few items on the menu for Australia Day celebrations at the Boambee Gardens Retirement Village.

More than 100 residents gathered for our nation’s favourite day, with a ‘best dressed’ competition, Australian trivia and lucky draw raffles keeping everyone entertained well into the afternoon.

Village resident Patricia Foster had a ball and was revelling in the festive atmosphere.

“Everyone got together and had a great time, and the food was perfect,” Mrs Foster said.

“It was a fabulous environment to celebrate Australia Day in.”

Resident manager Pauline Pollock organised the event and was thrilled with the turn out.

“This is our first year and we have had a really great response,” Ms Pollock said.

In true Aussie spirit, all proceeds from the lucky draw raffles will benefit the Flood Relief Appeal.
