Drunk woman, 43, hit by Beetle

A WOMAN was hit by a car in Coffs Harbour on Sunday night after she stumbled into traffic on Hogbin Drive.

Police say the 43-year-old pedestrian was struck by a Volkswagen travelling south on the roadway about 9.45pm.

The woman suffered head injuries and cuts to her head, face and legs.

It’s believed she was heavily affected by alcohol at the time and was hit after stepping in front of the passing vehicle near the airport turn-off.

The woman was treated by paramedics and taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital.

Police confirmed the woman was inebriated at the time of the accident.

The female driver of the vehicle was questioned and found not to be at fault.

Officers say the pedestrian may be charged with obstructing traffic.
