Cods eager to upset Rangers
RUGBY : Unbeaten in seven games, Rangers have been the Wagners Risdon Cup A-grade benchmark this season.
Led by playmaker and captain Tom Vinson, they have been dynamic right across the park, and Condamine Cods are the competition’s last hope of ending their regular season run.
“Tom (Vinson, pictured) is one of the best players I’ve seen in this competition for a few years now,” Cods coach Nathan Bradley said.
“He makes them tick, if we want to win we have to limit his time and space when he has the ball in his hands.”
The Cods will also need to “compete”.
“We were disappointed after our last match with them,” Bradley said.
“We lost 27-0, and it was a pretty indication of our performance as much as theirs.
“We didn’t compete.
“They’re the benchmark of the competition, and when you go up against them you have to compete right across the park.
“I think we’re a very different team compared to earlier this season.
“It’s going to be a real challenge, but we know what’s ahead of us.
“We have to win at least one of our last two games, and we have to beat them (Rangers) if we want to win it all.
“It’d good to get a win this weekend.”
