Coast runners are top chance in Sunshine Coast Cup

HORSE RACING: Locally trained talent is set to shine among quality fields at Corbould Park for the Sunshine Coast Cup Day.

A bumper 10-race program will hit the track for the event on Saturday, with plenty of prizemoney up for grabs in the Sunshine Coast Cup and two-year-old classic feature races.

While there's plenty of top contenders travelling from afar for the event, locally trained Darryl Hansen galloper Pennino is set to start as one of the favourites in the Coastline BMW 2YO Classic.

"It's a very tough race and she's (Pennino) up in class but I think she is a very smart filly so I expect her to go very well," Hansen said.

"It would be excellent (to win) and the owners are very lovely people and great supporters of mine over the years so to take the win away in that sort of race for them would be great."

Stuart Kendrick is also set to field runners in both of the two feature races with Spur Le Jouer, Banda Spice and Share the Blame.
