Hanging out with Parko and extracting modelling tips from Cheyenne Tozzi is all in a day's work for Rebecca Ronald.
The stunning 17-year-old has landed a lucrative modelling contract with surfwear giant Billabong and has just been named one of their 12 ambassadors.
Infact, it was after a shoot for the Japanese branch of Billabong, heldon the Gold Coast, that Rebecca was invited to help Joel Parkinsoncelebrate winning the Triple Crown and also where she came acrossCheyenne.
Cheyenne, an Aussie model who counts oil heiressBrandon Davis among her most recent flames, is signed with PriscillasModel Management in Sydney and offered Rebecca advice on how to get tothe top.
Not that Rebecca, who completed Year 12 at Mountain Creek State School at the end of last year, needs much help.
Thecurvy size 10 signed the 18-month contract on January 1 and has alreadycompleted the outdoor shoot for Japan, where her image will be oneverything from billboards, to catalogues and store signage.
She also will be involved in a string of promotions.
“It was a big step for me (the shoot). I'd never done outdoor before,” she said.
Rebeccahad to be up at 3.30am for hair and make-up on the day of the shoot,but said it was well worth the effort because they were so impressed byher features.
“They couldn't believe how tall I was,” Rebecca said, from her elevated position at 178cm.
“They said they loved the shots.”
Rebecca had to model 12 different looks that day, which is a feat in itself when most of us can hardly manage one.
Butperhaps the best part of the job for Rebecca, who was wearing Billabongclothing long before modelling it, is her “allowance”, which allows herto stock up without handing over the credit card.
Sincefinishing school, the blonde-haired, blued-eyed beauty divides her timebetween the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast where her boyfriend, also onthe Billabong roll-call and a pro-surfer, lives.
She likes to keep fit by rollerblading, surfing and running, but visits a personal trainer when she is on the Gold Coast.
Unlikethe average Aussie female, Rebecca has sworn off alcohol and tries toeat as healthy as she can, succumbing to the occasional chocolate.
Originallyfrom New Zealand, Rebecca moved with her family to the Sunshine Coastin 2000 and began modelling three years ago. She signed withprestigious Brisbane agency June Dally Watkins last year but found she had to reject a lot of the work so she could concentrate on her studies.
“Going to school was my first priority,” she said.
Rebeccatold her agent that she was keen to do surfwear and eventually she wentto a casting for Billabong held at Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast.
Shetook the day off school and impressed the judges, making it into thefinal four. However, the then slender size-8 was a little on the leanside for the brand, who said they would contact her in a few months tosee whether she had filled out more.
“The samples were all size 10s. They like their girls to be healthy,” she said.
A few months later, they kept their promise and got in touch with Rebecca and it has snowballed since then.
Overthe next 18 months, most of Rebecca's work will be concentrated oncatalogue shoots and range releases for buyers. But after that, theworld is her diamond-encrusted oyster.
Rebecca hopes to be able to do more outdoor shoots and poster work for the brand as well as some high-end modelling.
Asone of the faces for Billabong, she must not only model their clothes,but also embody everything that the brand stands for, such asenvironmental issues.
It is an exciting time for the youngster,who one day hopes to follow in the footsteps of her role model HeidiKlum, whom she says has the looks and the personality to deliver aknock-out package.
“Looks are looks but you have to know the person before you see their true beauty, I think,” Rebecca said.
“I've met so many models who are beautiful but their personalities are like cardboard boxes.”
Rebeccawill be heading to Sydney in the next couple of months to scour foragents and hopes to one day make it over to New York.
