Coast brothers to support Jon Stevens at Wishlist fundraiser
SUNSHINE Coast indie pop band SameTime will support former Noiseworks lead singer and INXS musician Jon Stevens at an upcoming Wishlist fundraiser.
Pelican Waters brothers Tim, 19, and Sam Aitken, 16, have been busking and performing together throughout southeast Queensland for the past seven years and now head a five-piece band.
"We played at Wishlist's grand celebration last year when the Sunshine Coast University Hospital opened,” Tim said.
"But to play now at Wishlist's biggest annual event prior to Jon Stevens taking the stage will be a real highlight for us.”
Now signed to Sony/ATV publishing and managed by Ian "Dicko” Dickson's Manboomen Management Company, the boys are expected to release their first EP late next month.
This year's Wishlist Spring Carnival is set to boast the biggest crowd yet, with more than 580 locals attending the charity event at Novotel Twin Waters on September 14.
Event manager Lisa Wilson said this year marked the event's 10th anniversary and a total of $1.13 million raised for public health services on the Coast.
"This event is quite exclusive and sells out each and every year,” Ms Wilson said.
"Our auction items are once again up for grabs - and you don't even have to be going to the event to bid.
"We have an online bidding system which opened this week, with all goods donated by very generous Sunshine Coast businesses.”
