Coaching is to be included in A-League stars’ visit

A COACHING clinic for local football players conducted by A-League stars will be part of the deal paid for by Coffs Harbour City Council if a rescission motion presented to councillors tomorrow is approved.

At the June 11 meeting, councillors voted to approve Mayor Denise Knight's mayoral minute that consideration be given to making available to North Coast Football and Novotel Pacific Bay Resort $50,000 of the funds previously allocated to attract a Hyundai A-League football match to the city.

Councillors Sultana, Palmer and Cowling now propose to rescind this in order to add: "These funds will be used to bring two teams to Coffs Harbour where they will conduct coaching clinics and play a pre-season match on Friday, August 7."

The Mayor originally nominated the Western Sydney Wanderers and Melbourne Victory for the August 7 match, which was amended to have team confirmation wait on council's allocation of funds.

Tomorrow's council meeting, which is open to the public, will begin at 5pm at the council chambers in Castle St.
