Former Rocky girl starts up own social media business

CLAUDIA Jones has grown up with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and has a keen eye for what attracts people to social media outlets.

So it's no surprise earlier this week the daring 21-year-old started her own social media business called Social Status.

Social Status is aimed at helping businesses and brands build a presence on social media through strategically designing social media pages and profiles.

The former Rockhampton girl, now living in Brisbane, has worked in public relations for over a year after graduating from Bond University with a Bachelor in Communication majoring in public relations.

Claudia said she wanted to use her skills to help other businesses create a social media presence.

"I worked in public relations and during this time I discovered my passion for social media," she said.

"I saw a huge gap in the market for brands that needed their products personally styled and photographed to then present on their social media platforms. I feel that social media is a great way to create an identity for a brand and this can be done through the way you lay out your images to the actual content you post.

"Starting my own business was a major risk and I had to leave my full time job to pursue my passion. Luckily I have made some great friends in the industry who have guided me in the right direction and encouraged me to keep going."

Claudia said social media was used differently for everyone's business needs but that the demand was overwhelming.

"Social media is a thriving industry and so many businesses are building their brands around these platforms these days," she said.

"As soon as I wake up until I go to sleep I'm on social media. I pretty much have my phone glued to my hand all day, signing in and out of accounts and posting content.

"It's such a huge world with so much to keep up on and I don't want to miss a second of it. I love designing content and being creative and social media allows me to do just that."
