Classic Australiana takes to the stage
THE Symphony of Australia will bring its original and captivating concert experience to Coffs Harbour this Saturday.
Renowned composer Gavin Lockley has single-handedly created the genre of classical Australiana, drawing on Australia's rich cultural heritage and embracing the work of the nation's foremost writers and poets, showcasing their treasured pieces of literature through an incredible orchestral composition.
Concert co-ordinator Steffan Jurd said the show was an experience not to be missed.
"The tremendous, encompassing and awe-inspiring sound of a full orchestra playing live, beneath the stars, and delivering exceptional pieces of music, is enough to lift even the most hardened cynic to new spheres of appreciation," Mr Jurd said.
"This is music that evokes raw emotion, transforms dispositions, and when combined with a celebration of what it means to be Australian, brings about a renewed interest and pride in one's cultural heritage."
The event will also feature a range of famous opera songs, performed by the exceptionally talented soprano, baritone and tenor voices of Renae Martin, Jose Carbo and Gavin Lockley.
The show's three main stars each have extensive experience performing on the international stage and are in constant demand throughout the world.
Gavin Lockley and Renae Martin have both performed for royalty at Buckingham Palace and at Windsor Castle, and Jose Carbo moves on to the Metropolitan Opera House in New York straight after this event.
The orchestra and supporting choir have been handpicked from the Australian Institute of Music. While exhibiting a remarkable quality of music, this event will be a very casual, social and family-friendly affair.
It embraces our beautiful natural environment, offering a sunset, then moonlit opportunity for socialising with friends, sampling delicious local foods and enjoying a glass of wine.
