Clarkson urges patience with new Hawks
IT might be all for one and one for all at Hawthorn, according to the club's song, but coach Alastair Clarkson says it might take time for the team's new four musketeers to work into the new system.
Jaeger O'Meara (Suns), Tom Mitchell (Swans), Ty Vickery (Tigers) and Ricky Henderson (Crows) have all made the starting line-up to face Essendon on Saturday night but Clarkson said not to expect too much from the new boys straight away after their off-season trades.
The Hawks mentor said while the foursome had acquitted themselves well in training and pre-season games, it might be different for the coming AFL season.
"We've had a fair chance to practice over the summer," Clarkson said.
"Our guys gelled together pretty well and we've got four new faces from other clubs.
"That might take a little bit of time to understand the best way that they go about it and the best contribution they can make for us and for them to understand the chemistry of the way we play.
"But by and large, that's the whole idea of a summer really.
"You indoctrinate new players with the culture of your footy club and the way that we play.
"All four of those boys have fitted in really well."
