Clarence hits Coffs for a six
COFFS HARBOUR fell well short of the target when going down to Clarence River in their SCG Country Cup match at Breslford Park on Sunday.
Riding high on a century by Matt Kronhert and strong partnerships in the middle order, Clarence reached 288 in their 50 overs for the loss of seven wickets.
With showers threatening to end the day's outing at any moment, Coffs set about their enormous task, only to suffer an immediate disaster.
Young openers Alex Byrne and James Bellamy holed out quickly and with Rowan Hackett and veteran Matt Pigg causing maximum distress, the home side battled on gamely but the likely outcome was rarely in dispute.
To be fair, Joe Mennie's 81 runs with a couple of handy partnerships gave Clarence some worries but without a master blaster to go on a rescue mission, Coffs Harbour was always up against it and were dismissed for 212.
