City v Country returns to Coffs

REPRESENTATIVE rugby league is returning to Coffs Harbour with Country Rugby League announcing next year's City vs Country match will be held at BCU International Stadium.

To be held on Sunday April 21, the clash will see some of the NRL's best players battling for State of Origin selection.

The announcement is a major coup for Coffs Harbour which previously held the annual clash in 2007.

Group 2 Chief Administrative Officer Jim Anderson believes the news is great for local rugby league.

"Country Rugby League met in Coffs Harbour a few weeks ago to inspect the facilities and were really enthusiastic about what the region had to offer," Anderson said

"A match like this can only help develop the game.

"Hopefully the game will bring fans from all around the state not just locally.

"There may be an opportunity for a Group 2 side to play in the curtain raiser and that is something we would be more than happy for."
