City centre closed to traffic for the afternoon

THE city centre is being converted this afternoon into a bustling mecca for rally sport fans to pay homage to the drivers and the cars that make flying along the forest roads look so easy.

All of the competing vehicles in this weekend's Coates Hire Rally Australia will line Harbour Dr as more than 1,500 people are expected to flock to the CBD where they can get a close up look at the vehicles as well as the drivers, including the world's elite here in Coffs Harbour in search of valuable WRC championship points.

From 1pm the city centre will be a clearway and closed to traffic until 6pm.
