Chyanne's downing of Townsville
SOFTBALL: While it's not softball season in Gladstone, it didn't stop a bunch of women playing the game.
Gladstone played in Mackay's Fun in the Sun competition and came out trumps.
Chyanne Downing led the way with three home runs in the final against Townsville.
Her hitting proved the difference in the decider and Gladstone pipped its northern neighbours 9-7.
The team fielded brilliantly all weekend and Downing's pitching was outstanding.
Taylah Williams also had an excellent tournament.
A post on the Softball Gladstone Facebook page read:
"It was great to see the two Gladstone clubs (Telford and Souths) combine to put together a winning combination of the young and speedy players Annanmonet Massey, Chyanne Downing, Paige Marek and Williams combined with the 'seasoned' players who had the experience - Lynn Munster, Jill Schulke, Louisa Denman."
