Chrysler slash sedan price

THE current high value of the Aussie dollar has seen Chrysler Australia take the discount axe to its long-standing 300C sedan with discounts topping $20,000.

The biggest saving applies to the 3.5-litre V6 five-speed automatic 300C - now $39,990 drive-away, a saving of $20,368, a reduction of nearly 34 per cent and one of the largest discounts yet seen in the automotive marketplace. Premium paint adds $450 across all 300C models.

The discount on the 5.7-litre V8 Hemi five-speed auto 300C is $17,526 - pay $49,990 drive-away, previously $67,516 drive-away. These same figures also apply for the 3-litre CRD V6 turbo-diesel five-speed auto 300C.

At the top of the range the 6.1-litre V8 SRT-8 300C has been slashed by $12,226 - pay $69,990 drive-away, previously $82,216 drive-away.

The iconic high-waisted Chrysler sedan sold up a storm when it first arrived in September 2005 and quickly became the most popular Chrysler sold here.

However, after a strong year in 2006 sales have been slipping ever since. This year alone sales have dropped by over 34 per cent compared to the same time last year yet it remains Chrysler Australia's biggest seller.

Equipment on the 3.5-litre V6, 5.7-litre Hemi V8 and 3.0-litre turbo-diesel 300C includes six airbags, stability control, anti-lock brakes, cruise control, dual-zone climate control air-conditioning, a full leather interior, Xenon headlights, 18-inch polished alloy wheels, Bluetooth phone connectivity and a high-grade seven-speaker sound system.

Other features include 8-way power front seats with driver's seat memory, rain-sensing windscreen wipers, headlight washers, front and rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system, walnut trim on the steering wheel, gear knob and door pull handles and a space saver spare wheel.

Further equipment includes a trip computer, security alarm, remote central locking, a stainless steel exhaust system, power windows and mirrors, an engine immobiliser and a 60/40 split/folding rear seat.

The performance flagship 300C SRT8 further gains larger 20-inch alloy wheels plus a repair kit in lieu of a space saver plus a higher-grade eleven-speaker premium sound system with satellite navigation

Overall, Chrysler Australia sales to the end of October are running 43 per cent behind the same time last year, falling to just 895 units at the end of October.
