IT TURNED out to be a glorious day for a walk.

More than 600 people took part in Sunday's second annual Coffs Coast Chopper Walk, trekking along dunes and over headlands to boost the coffers of the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter service.

The sun shone and the scenery was stunning but the 14km trek from Moonee Beach to Park Beach offered no shortage of muscle-stretching all-terrain challenges.

The tally of pledges made at two North Coast charity walks has raised $130,000 with all proceeds going straight to the service, which relies on community donations to keep it in the air.
