Chopper diverted from Red Rock search to Dorrigo emergency

A WESTPAC Life Saver Rescue Helicopter involved in the search for a missing fisherman at Red Rock was diverted to an emergency in Dorrigo earlier today.

The helicopter was involved with the search effort for about an hour before being tasked to Dorrigo at around 11am, where a woman in her 30s was reported to be suffering a medical episode.

Ambulance media said paramedics were called to the scene shortly after 10am this morning.

The woman was later flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

The missing fisherman is believed to be 26-year-old Red Rock and Grafton resident Michael Fernance, who has not been seen since he went fishing off the headland on Wednesday afternoon.
