Child expected to be airlifted after being struck by car

UPDATE, 3.30PM: A CHILD struck by a car in the driveway of a home is expected to be flown to Brisbane with critical injuries.

The girl, whose age was not released, is believed to have been struck by a car at a private address in Roma shortly before noon.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics were called to the scene at 11.55am and treated the girl for serious injuries.

She was initially taken to Roma Hospital in a critical but stable condition to be stabilised.

However, due to the extent of her injuries, she was expected to be airlfted to the Queensland Children's Hospital in Brisbane.

Emergency services were confronted with a highly emotional scene when arriving at the incident before paramedics transported the girl to hospital.

Police including the Forensic Crash Unit are investigating the incident. 

EARLIER: A child has been taken to hospital after reportedly being struck by a car this morning. 

Queensland Ambulance paramedics were called to a private residence in Roma about 11.55am with reports a vehicle had struck a pedestrian. 

The pedestrian is understood to be a child, but it is unknown what injuries they suffered in the incident. 

A QAS spokeswoman said paramedics transported the patient to Roma Hospital in an unknown condition.
