Charlie riding a wave of success

WOOLGOOLGA surfer Charlie O’Sullivan can call himself a state champion after a memorable weekend on the waves at the Australian Skin Cancer Clinics NSW Longboard Titles.

O’Sullivan took out the over-45s title with a great performance in picture-perfect two-foot righthanders at Bellambi, north of Wollongong.

O’Sullivan posted an impressive 13.70 heat total in the final, producing a chain of eclectic backside snaps to take the win ahead of over-35s champion Robbie Page.

The win means O’Sullivan will be representing New South Wales when the upcoming Australian Surfing Festival hits Coffs Harbour in August.

He could’ve so easily won another couple of titles as well.

O’Sullivan finished runner-up in the over-50 and over-40 Logs finals.

Another local who put his hand up to compete in Coffs Harbour’s giant surf festival was Emerald Beach surfer Mark Ingleby who came second in the over-55 men’s division.
