Channel 10 adds Survivor Australia to 2016 reality line-up

CHANNEL 10 is expanding its slate of reality TV in a bid to win back an even bigger ratings share from its competitors.

The broadcaster unveiled its major programs for 2016 tonight in Sydney and top of the list is a new series of Australian Survivor.

The show returns to our screens 15 years after Channel 9 aired one season of the reality wildlife survival series set in Australia.

Survivor is a popular format overseas and has been running for 31 seasons in the US.

The Australian series will be set on a remote tropical island overseas.

Australian Survivor adds to Ten's returning reality formats I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, MasterChef, Gogglebox, The Bachelor and The Bachelorette which delivered much of its ratings success this year.

I'm A Celebrity is also getting a new companion show, I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Now, hosted by Joel Creasey and The Bachelor favourite Heather Maltman.

The show will air after the main program on ELEVEN and TenPlay and feature more behind the scenes footage and gossip from the jungle camp.

A six season of Offspring returns to bolster Ten's drama line-up alongside the new series The Wrong Girl, starring Jessica Marais, and a Peter Brock biopic starring former Offspring heartthrob Matthew Le Nevez.

Ten's family entertainment also expands with Family Feud expanding to include an All Stars series, a second season of The Great Australian Spelling Bee, Shark Tank and the factual series Long Lost Family, which reunites relatives after years of separation.

Internationally, Ten has secured the rights to the highly anticipated new series of The X Files and American Crime Story (John Travolta, Cuba Gooding Jr, David Schwimmer) and The Grinder (Rob Lowe, Fred Savage).

In sport, Ten retains the rights to the Big Bash League, Formula One, the V8s and the Wallabies test matches.

The broadcaster will also air eight matches, including the final, from this summer's inaugural Women's Big Bash League.
