Changes to ease traffic in Macksville

TODAY marks the start of changed traffic conditions in Macksville to help ease the traditional Pacific Hwy Christmas congestion.

Left-in only arrangements will be in place at the Partridge St intersection.

Motorists turning right on to the highway or turning right into Partridge St will be directed to use Boundary and Willis streets.

The Winifred St intersection will also be restricted to left-in only, with diversions for motorists turning right via Princess and Boundary streets.

The northern entrance to the Caltex Service Station will also be temporarily closed.

The Partridge St traffic signals will be turned off today as a trial, with traffic control in place to assist traffic and pedestrians.

This arrangement will be reviewed by Roads and Maritime Services and, if successful, repeated on other peak days.

The changes will be in place from 8am-8pm on peak traffic volume dates until Sunday, January 3.

The changes won't be in place tomorrow, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve or New Year's Day.
