Chamber music trio in Coffs concert
WINNERS of the 2011 Musica Viva Chamber Music Competition, the Streeton Trio is quickly becoming one of Australia's hottest music exports, touring internationally and performing in competitions around the world.
On Friday, July 25, Coffs Harbour music lovers have the opportunity to catch the in-demand trio live in concert in a special performance presented by Coffs Harbour Music Society in association with Musica Viva Australia.
Formed in Geneva in 2008 and comprising three of Australia's leading young musicians, the Streeton Trio is the first Australian ensemble to be selected for the prestigious European Chamber Music Academy.
The trio is in high demand across Europe, the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Asia, New Zealand and Australia.
In Coffs Harbour, the trio will perform a suite of works by Haydn, Kats-Chernin, Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Brahms.
"We have prepared a really beautiful program," said Emma Jardine, violin.
"Each of the works features a mythical concept or other-worldly character; from Haydn's bubbly, rustic Gypsy trio, to the floating, pretty Butterflying by Elena Kats-Chernin. Our program will also include the masterful and powerful Ghost trio by Beethoven, Rachmaninov's deeply expressive Élégiaque Trio no.1, and will end with the epic voyage of Brahms' C major trio."
The concert is on Friday, July 25, 8pm at the Coffs Harbour Education Campus, Lecture Theatre D. Tickets are available at Park Beach Music & Hi-Fi.
