Tavern challenge a success

THE Greenhouse Tavern Challenge is set to be an annual fixture due to its enormous success on Sunday.

As many as 30 people cheered on by their families and friends lined up for the inaugural event and battled it out for $3000 in sponsorships.

The seven teams of sporting and social clubs showed their prowess in bus pulling, thong tossing, the keg relay, tunnel ball, the boxing glove relay, pool, darts, balloon blowing and exercise bike riding.

“We had a great day and lots of fun was had,” said Greenhouse Tavern manager Shane McCarthy.

“We're hoping to build on its success to make it an annual event. The way it was received gives us confidence it will work quite well next year.”

Teams comprised two male and two female members and a scoring system determined individual event and overall winners.
