Chadd has big say as Redbacks enjoy success

A MAN-of-the match effort from fast bowler Chadd Sayers helped South Australia pull off a shock win against Queensland in their opening Sheffield Shield match of the 2014-15 season at the Adelaide Oval.

After Queensland resumed at 2-128 on the final day with a lead of 203 runs, Sayers, who finished the second innings with 6-34 off 10 overs, and leg spinner Adam Zampa who claimed 4-45, took the last eight Queensland wickets for a paltry 24.

That left a target of 227, which the home side reached for the loss of two wickets.

Mark Cosgrove top scored with 78 and Callum Ferguson added 65 not out to his first-innings century.

In other matches, Victoria had no trouble beating New South Wales by nine wickets at the MCG, and Western Australia beat Tasmania by seven wickets at the WACA.
