CFMEU Brisbane offices raided by police

THE Brisbane office of the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union has been raided by federal police on Thursday morning.

The raids come weeks after the Trade Unions Royal Commission sitting in Brisbane heard CFMEU heavyweights Michael Ravbar and Dave Hanna destroyed seven tonnes of union documents in April 2014.

Mr Hanna is a former national CFMEU president, while Mr Ravbar is the union's Queensland secretary.

If proven, the document burning allegations could result in the pair facing criminal charges across three jurisdictions, the Queensland Criminal Code, the Commonwealth Crimes Act and Commonwealth Royal Commission Act.

Each man could face up to seven years in jail.
